Hirokazu Tabe (Senshu University)

I am a second-year student at Senshu University. I am in the faculty of Commerce and I specialize in Marketing. I was fortunate to have internship here. During the two weeks, I was given the chance to participate in the actual projects program and give my opinions from marketing point of view. Also, I was given some chances to exchange business mails with Chinese and Japanese companies.

Since this was the true first time to do something called “internship” including Japan, I was really nervous when it has started. Fortunately, I was blessed with my colleagues and my boss, Thanks to Mr. Mirza, made my valuable experiences without stress while working in APIT.

APIT has not only great program for internship students but also provides experiences to brush up our skills through this program. I can recommend you with confidence to improve your career in this program.

Lastly, I once again would like to thank all those involved for this internship in APIT, to make this program fruitful and had a challenging and exciting days for the future.

Period of intern: 3/9/2018-14/9/2018

Ryo Yanagase(Aoyama Gakuin University)

I major Economics at Aoyama Gakuin University. I am currently a junior and I applied here to gain some work experience and build up confidence for my next step.

I have been working at APIT for about a month and it was a great opportunity to experience differences of working atmosphere in Japan and Australia. I was able to deal with editing websites and writing reports which includes lots of responsibilities however, it was worth trying to solve issues with colleagues and find a better solution.

In addition to this, I had an another opportunity to design original letterhead for client and it was challenging to me because that was my first time to create formal letterhead from scratch but fortunately it went well.

I spent wonderful time with APIT and other people from all over the world. I believe that the experience I gained here definitely helps to open up a new path of my carrier and I would recommend to people who are interested in working abroad.

Roberto Riyuso Eto Murakami (University of Technology Sydney)

1, Introduction about yourself
International student from Brazil – I studied Civil Engineering for 2 semesters at University of
Technology, Sydney (UTS).

2, How was your experience working with our company?
It was a wonderful experience and I was well treated since the beginning. Students are forced to apply
the theory learned in college. In addition, once jobs are done in pairs or teams, communication is
essential. As an international student, I always had to practice my English and this has improved it.

3, Tell us more about your internship?
In my internship, I made some site inspections and reports at the beginning. After this, I worked with
cost estimation of a project. During this time, there were several meetings to discuss the current
projects as well as introduce the student into the executive environment.

4, What would you advice other students who are looking for internship?
Internship is the best school of life: you will be tested every time and you have to be prepared.
Certainly, it is an amazing and empowering experience.

5, How was your life in SYDNEY (if you’re from overseas)?
From now on, Sydney occupies a part of my heart: it is, in my opinion, the best city of the world to live and has all the attributes to be well classified. It is not coincidence that Sydney is one of the best cities to live in the world. Thanks Sydney!

Darwin Peczek (University of New South Wales)

1. Introduction about yourself
My name is Darwin Peczek and I am an undergraduate at UNSW studying Civil Engineering.

2. How was your experience working with our company?
It was a very rewarding experience to learn about how exactly a building idea goes from conceptualisation to completion; you will learn and become involved with this at Swars from a project management perspective.

3. Tell us more about your internship
Work consisted of tendering and management of private projects.
Tenders will involve the interpretation and creation of tender documents that are an essential part of most engineering firms. Within the private projects you will learn about all the steps that are taken by architects, design engineers, councils, clients and so on to complete a building, demolition or refurbishment project. You will also go to sites to complete inspections.

4. What would you advise other student who are looking for internships?
Look and apply for everything, go to career expos meet people and talk to them. It can be a challenge sending cold emails so try, try, try to talk to people directly.
Once you get an internship make the most out of it and work with a high standing personal responsibility that represents yourself. If you make the most out of it it can be a really great thing.

Henry Saturno

I am Henry Saturno studying Mechanical Engineering.

My experience was great because the company and team is very accommodating and professional.

The internship helped me a lot to fit myself in the country not only in the field of engineering but also in the culture. The company exposure with the client will enhance your confidence as a project engineer.

Internship will give you the exact experience as a full time engineer (employee) all you need is to absorb any knowledges and learnings that will be very useful on your career.

Besides, for me, Sydney is the most amazing and liveable city in the world. So living there is amazing!

Victoria Tillman (Texas Technology University)

Hello my name is Victoria Tillman and I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Texas Tech University, located in Lubbock, Texas.I am currently a senior and I believe my experience with APIT really boosted my engineering career.

I began my internship with the help of APIT in June 2016 and worked for another company for two months. I was able to gain a wide variety of engineering experiences. I was able to deal with clients first hand, and learn about day-to-day engineering operations. I got to go with clients to potential job sites and pre-existing sites to discuss concerns they had regarding the projects.

Another fantastic task I was given was to coordinate site visits. This way other interns and I could go to job sites that were currently being constructed, and get first hand experiences in seeing how engineering operations were carried out during the construction phase of our projects.

In addition to this I was able to acquire skills relating to project management. These abilities that I have obtained through the course of my internship have given me the boost that I need in order to progress as a professional engineer.

Lastly, I would like to mention that my time spent in Sydney, Australia was unlike anything I have ever experienced. I was able to be immersed in a unique culture, as well as participate in new and exciting experiences.

My time spent with this company was an amazing addition to not only my engineering knowledge, but also to my cultural understanding of different countries. I was able to work with people from all over the world and learn about different cultures. To any student thinking about interning here I would suggest to work hard and to enjoy your time.

Shawn Yuan (University of Sydney)

I am the final year postgraduate student in USYD. I experienced a great internship time with SWARS International engineering group.

I was given real project and responsibility to promote my capability and I was leading projects not long after joining them. Tasks were involved not only in civil fields, but also electrical, structural and project management field. I was assigned works as administration and project management. Colleges and supervisor have helped me throughout the project to deal with the difficulty; and the challenging project really promote my engineering and communication capabilities. Also, getting involved in real work and producing value for business could encourage the confidence. It is worth-well to have an internship here.

William Wooyun Kim (University of New South Wales)

I was in my final year studying a double degree in Chemical Engineering and Commerce at UNSW when I got familiar with APIT.

I feel I was able to learn a lot from my 3 months internship program at the company, APIT introduced me to. Because I was given a lot of trust and responsibilities and was leading projects not long after joining them. There was a wide range of projects from different industries, such as railway, residential housing and even hospitality. Tasks were well allocated amongst our team who had a wide range of engineering backgrounds.

Internships are a great learning experience as long as you have the right attitude.
