Roberto Riyuso Eto Murakami (University of Technology Sydney)

1, Introduction about yourself
International student from Brazil – I studied Civil Engineering for 2 semesters at University of
Technology, Sydney (UTS).

2, How was your experience working with our company?
It was a wonderful experience and I was well treated since the beginning. Students are forced to apply
the theory learned in college. In addition, once jobs are done in pairs or teams, communication is
essential. As an international student, I always had to practice my English and this has improved it.

3, Tell us more about your internship?
In my internship, I made some site inspections and reports at the beginning. After this, I worked with
cost estimation of a project. During this time, there were several meetings to discuss the current
projects as well as introduce the student into the executive environment.

4, What would you advice other students who are looking for internship?
Internship is the best school of life: you will be tested every time and you have to be prepared.
Certainly, it is an amazing and empowering experience.

5, How was your life in SYDNEY (if you’re from overseas)?
From now on, Sydney occupies a part of my heart: it is, in my opinion, the best city of the world to live and has all the attributes to be well classified. It is not coincidence that Sydney is one of the best cities to live in the world. Thanks Sydney!

Period of intern: 29/11/2016 27/01/2017

Darwin Peczek (University of New South Wales)

1. Introduction about yourself
My name is Darwin Peczek and I am an undergraduate at UNSW studying Civil Engineering.

2. How was your experience working with our company?
It was a very rewarding experience to learn about how exactly a building idea goes from conceptualisation to completion; you will learn and become involved with this at Swars from a project management perspective.

3. Tell us more about your internship
Work consisted of tendering and management of private projects.
Tenders will involve the interpretation and creation of tender documents that are an essential part of most engineering firms. Within the private projects you will learn about all the steps that are taken by architects, design engineers, councils, clients and so on to complete a building, demolition or refurbishment project. You will also go to sites to complete inspections.

4. What would you advise other student who are looking for internships?
Look and apply for everything, go to career expos meet people and talk to them. It can be a challenge sending cold emails so try, try, try to talk to people directly.
Once you get an internship make the most out of it and work with a high standing personal responsibility that represents yourself. If you make the most out of it it can be a really great thing.

Period of intern: 05/12/2016 – 05/02/2017

Henry Saturno

I am Henry Saturno studying Mechanical Engineering.

My experience was great because the company and team is very accommodating and professional.

The internship helped me a lot to fit myself in the country not only in the field of engineering but also in the culture. The company exposure with the client will enhance your confidence as a project engineer.

Internship will give you the exact experience as a full time engineer (employee) all you need is to absorb any knowledges and learnings that will be very useful on your career.

Besides, for me, Sydney is the most amazing and liveable city in the world. So living there is amazing!
